‘Financial District’
by Debbi Nelson

There is so much symbolism with this shot. The goal was to photograph one of the more well-known buildings in Rhode Island’s capital. I could feel this building’s texture through the lens and loved the historic-looking street sign and lantern. New England cities and towns have such a flavor and feeling about them. Looking closer to focus, the building, located in the Financial District, sort of “disappeared” on me, which I found intriguing. It reminded me of the unpredictable financial winds that are always blowing. Sometimes, as in the picture, clouds are present. Sometimes, what we think of as “solid” ends up being without substance. We have all learned that “transparency” is vital to good working relationships, whether personal or professional, political or otherwise. Sometimes, it’s just nice to look at really cool buildings.
