‘The Sunflower’
by Debbi Nelson
Buttonwood Farm in Griswold, CT paints the town yellow every year with fields of endless sunflowers. It is something to see. They offer rides through the tall blooms and they make the best ice cream on the planet. They also sell beautiful sunflower bouquets around the last weekend of July and proceeds benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Connecticut. I make the journey to those gorgeous fields each year to do sunflower studies. I capture something new and unique each year. The bold colors of this close-up photo screamed for some texture. Just imagine for a moment that this photo is greatly enlarged and placed as the centerpiece in a room. Perhaps it sits over a fireplace mantel or at the top of a long staircase in a foyer? Maybe it graces the wall behind a bed or catches sunshine coming in to a pretty sun-room? Who doesn’t love the happiness of a sunflower?
