‘The Landscape Arch in Utah’
by Debbi Nelson

As we get older, we think we think that nothing can mesmerize us any more. We are pretty sure we can explain everything away. However, seeing Arches National Park in Moab, Utah makes us feel like an inquisitive child again. “How did that happen? How is it balancing like that? What makes the rock form an arch?” But, unless you are there with a scientist, no one really has any answers for you. They all just share your wonder. This national park is filled with unusual rock formations that defy gravity and explanation. All were sculpted by Mother Nature herself over thousands of years. Some can be seen rather close to the road, however, many require hikes that take a bit of time over steep, rocky inclines in high heat. Good shoes and water bottles were as essential as the camera itself.
